Donna & I met with the doctor on January 23 regarding the results of my bone marrow biopsy. The doctor informed us that the chemo was ineffective & that my bone marrow is really messed up. My blood counts have not recovered since the first chemo treatment in November. The reason is due to the resistant Leukemia cells. My bone marrow is apparently not producing any healthy cells like it is suppose to after chemo. There is other complications as well. One of my chromosones is damaged, which doesn't help either. A bone marrow transplant is not an option any more.
There is nothing more they can do except try an experimental drug that has only been used on 16 people in Canada. The side effects are said to be minimal unlike the chemo treatment. It is also said to be non-toxic. There is apparently no statistics yet as it is to new. Pray for us that we may know if this is something worth trying. We meet with the doctor on January 27 to discuss further details regarding the drug.
